Chapter 13 ”Tired?” Kiseop smiled, while Kevin dragged his feet into the café. The younger quickly brightened, shaking his head while looking around to check if he was the second earliest. “Xander-hyung is bringing out the cups from inside. Eli is baking.”
“Oh.” Kevin pouted slightly. He had been slightly earlier though.
“Good morning!” Dongho chirped, waving warmly. Kevin noted that he had came out from the staff room, which meant he was fighting with Soohyun for the “latest” position.
“Do you guys stay in the café?” Kevin joked, smiling when Dongho jumped around him enthusiastically like a little boy, some happy dance routine he liked to perform every morning. “You guys come in way too early!”
“We all stay nearby.” Kiseop laughed, ruffling Dongho’s hair. “Soohyun-hyung oversleeps frequently though.”
A light snicker could be heard, before Alexander sashayed towards the trio with a loud laugh. “And he’ll forget to comb his hair and look like a mess.”
Kevin giggled slightly, remembering he had once seen such a scene. Soohyun looked vaguely like a tamed lion, especially when his eyes are half-lidded with fatigue, mouth tasting his own saliva while resembling a goldfish. It sometimes reminded him that Soohyun could be rather cute too, as compared to his fierce nature when the issue involved Kibum.
There were some random topics being discussed as they continued doing their individual work, which included cleaning the coffee cups once more, opening up new packs of serviettes, and sweeping the floor. Kevin, as decided on the first day of his work, danced gracefully between the tables, gently gathering the minute dust present around the café.
He remembered Dongho telling him he would be waltzing with the broom in no time because sweeping was boring. It hadn’t been long, less than two months actually, and Dongho was right.
Kevin still found flipping the “Open” and “Closed” sign fun though, imagining his simple act as a way to start the day. Some days, he would even imagine what Kibum might do if he realises the sign was still on the “Closed” side. Or what the other customers might do, but they weren’t so very important.
As the morning preparations were done, the café crew was ready to start a new day.
-
“Good morning, please allow me to lead you to your seat.” Kevin brightly greeted, having spotted the couple heading towards the café when they were fifteen steps away from the entrance. On busy days, Soohyun said it was fine for the customers to just walk in. When there was almost no crowd, it would be a lot better for the waiter to bring them to their seats. It would look more professional on the customer’s point of view.
Alexander smiled along, having told Kiseop on the first day that Kevin had an infectious smile. Watching the younger boy just made him happier, something Dongho had too.
Kiseop chuckled, agreeing and pointing out the swiftness in Kevin’s hands as he tore the copy of an order receipt to the customer and kept his pen and waiter’s pad in his back pocket.
“He’s so good at this now.” Kiseop grinned, watching Kevin skip to the counter and place the original copy of the order receipt on a tray.
“That his handwriting has only gotten messier.” Alexander solemnly nodded, keeping a straight face. “How I wish It was still that clumsy Kevin who would spill coffee on a customer and write every letter of an order, prim and proper.”
“Hyung!” Kevin frowned, catching enough of their conversation to understand they were talking about him.
Alexander laughed heartily, reaching over to ruffle Kevin’s head of hair and conveniently eyeing the order. “Kidding, Kiseop, make a cappuccino.”
Kevin smiled, running a hand over his hair to tidy the mess Alexander might have made. He checked the café’s entrance and noticed a group of girls lingering outside as if deciding to enter or not. Heading towards the very spot, he patted Dongho’s head affectionately along the way and continued his walk there.
“Welcome!” Kevin beamed warmly. “Do you want to have a look at the menu before deciding if you would want to stay?”
The girls started whispering to each other, and the supposedly braver one agreed and asked Kevin if he had anything to recommend. The other girls were praising him, if the hushed “so handsome” and “cuteeee!” weren’t enough hints.
Kevin spoke of the few popular cakes and some different flavours of coffee ice blended which young girls seemed to like. Dongho smiled at Kevin’s way of promoting the drinks and cakes, returning an affectionate act by patting Kevin’s bottom as he passed by.
“This café has so many cute guys!” A girl squeaked. “Let’s just have a seat first!”
-
“Careful~!” Kevin sweetly warned, and the little girl looked up at him with an innocent expression. She returned to looking down at the floor before taking a step away, as if letting Kevin pass. “Thank you!”
She smiled prettily, before returning to running towards the toilet.
Soohyun watched happily as Kevin balanced the tray on a hand, something he couldn’t really master a few weeks back because he wasn’t the strongest person. The waiter even shunned the kid coming his way without the tray slanting towards any side, and bowed to a trio of businessmen as they left the café.
He watched as an arm was shot up into the air, and was about to instruct Dongho to attend to the customer when Kevin reached to the man in a speed of light.
It was Kibum, much to his dismay and disdain.
Kevin smiled beautifully and nodded, before skipping back towards the counter to tell of Kibum’s second order. Soohyun was glad their interaction was short, but wasn’t really pleased to see a somewhat knowing smile on the customer’s face as Kevin left.
“Soohyun-hyung!” Kevin waved, placing the order receipt on a new tray and knocking on it to alert Kiseop of a new order. “Not working in the kitchen today?”
“Came to have a look.” Soohyun replied mildly, deciding not to speak of Kibum. Kevin usually got into a bad mood when he did, and he didn’t feel like spoiling the smile Kevin wore. Besides, they seemed to have kept their conversation to the minimum.
“Oh!” Kevin blinked, exclaiming it a little louder than he should have. “What did you see?”
“You getting better.” Soohyun then laughed, patting Kevin’s shoulder. “Keep it up.”
“Okay!”
(Alexander secretly thanked God for Soohyun not noticing Kevin and Kibum interacting. His daily show was saved.)

I don't know why I make Alexander so comical ;~;
But it's cute, right? :3
This chapter is dry because I'm just writing a filler chapter, that's why I took so long.
Filler chapters are a dragggg, I tell you, a draggggg.
The next chapter shouldn't take too long! I hope! :3
