Few days later
“Ready to go home?”
Aiba jerked up at Nino’s voice and turned quickly toward the doorway of his hospital room where his friend was standing.
“Oh, Nino… it’s just you…” Aiba said and didn’t even try to hide the disappointed tone in his voice. He thought - hoped - someone else will come to pick him up.
Nino couldn’t hold back a little smile hearing this. He knew exactly whom Aiba was waiting for but pretended he didn’t.
“Ready to go home?” he repeated his former question instead.
“Un” Aiba nodded and grabbing his bag he followed his friend to his car in the parking lot.
“Where is he?” he asked finally - not being to hold back his curiosity anymore - when both of them was in the car already.
“He?” Nino kept pretending.
“You know who I talk about!” Aiba snapped impatiently. “Sho!”
It wasn’t just that his manager didn’t come to pick him up; it was also he didn’t even come to visit him while he was hospitalized. Though Jun, Ohno and even Tackey came to drop by at least for a few minutes!
Nino needed all his strength to hold back his grinning. He called him by his given name in front of someone else!
“Oh! You mean him! He’s busy with his new, dream job, probably…” he answered shrugging.
“His new, dream job?” Aiba asked back eyes widening in panic.
‘So he really left after all… Didn’t he?... But I thought… He was there! I’m sure he was the one there with me! Then why?...’ the young idol was confused by the great number of unanswered questions in his mind and the only person who could answer them was nowhere near him. Suddenly an angry frown appeared on his face. He won’t back down! Not this time!
“Nino! Take me to the jimushou!” he ordered his friend.
“What?” Nino asked back truly surprised this time. “But the doctor said…”
“I don’t care! I said take me to the jimushou! Are you deaf or something?” Aiba snapped back immediately.
“Okay, okay, I got it! Geez… No need to work up yourself that much. It’s no good to your health…” the skinny driver said defensively and obeyed without another word.
As they arrived Aiba didn’t even wait till Nino stopped the car properly but jumped out and ran toward the elevators pushing away anyone and everyone who was in his way.
Nino just stared after his friend with a smile on his lips.
“Took you long enough, baka!...” he mumbled smiling…
Aiba ran down the corridors on the top floor to the great wooden doors.
“Aiba-san, matte!” the secretary tried to stop him but before she could get up from his desk the young idol burst in Johnny’s office.
“Oi! Ossan! Get him back right now! Either him will be my manager or you won’t need to find anyone cause I’ll quit! Did you get me?” Aiba shouted stomping to his boss’s desk without looking around in the office. “I’m not willing to bear with anyone else but him!”
“Aiba-kun?” Johnny raised an eyebrow at the theatrical entrance.
“Aiba-san?”
Aiba froze at hearing the second voice and slowly turned his head to notice that right by his side none other than Sho himself stood.
“W…what are you doing here?...” he stuttered turning deep red. “Nino said…” he mumbled but the rest of his words died on his lips.
Sho chuckled softly at how adorably Aiba acted. But the he quickly grabbed himself and put back on his professional self.
“With this, Johnny-san, we can finish our discussion right here. Am I right?” he asked seriously then smiled when the older man nodded. “In that case we’re leaving now. As the doctor ordered, Aiba-san needs to rest today so he can return to work from tomorrow. Shitsureishimasu…” Sho said bowing then putting his hand on Aiba’s back he gently pushed him out of the room.
“Sakurai-kun!” Johnny called back the young manager when he was just about to step out too.
“Hai!” Sho turned back to him with a questioning glance.
“I don’t care whatever it is between the two of you as far as it don’t cause troubles with the media and doesn’t affect badly your or his work. Am I clear?” Johnny asked firmly.
“Crystal clear, sir! Arigatou gozaimasu!” Sho bowed with a smile before followed Aiba quickly.
Till Sho managed to catch up with Aiba the younger seemed to already shook off the surprise and now looked at his (former-new) manager with an angry pout.
“Care to tell me finally what the hell are you doing here?” Aiba asked stomping his foot childishly when Sho reached him.
“I’m doing my job of course!” Sho said smiling and pushed the elevator’s button.
“What job? Don’t make fun of me!” Aiba stomped again. “Nino said you’re busy with you dream job so what are you doing here? Tell me the truth!” he demanded.
“But that’s what I’m doing” Sho said smiling gently at Aiba then took his hand and pulled him in the elevator.
Aiba blushed a little at the body contact but didn't pull away and followed Sho obediently.
“I have to apologize to you. I was a real slowpoke on realizing what I really want. And I’m really sorry that I hurt you so much till I realized that all I want is to be by your side every single minute. Not just as your manager but also as your boyfriend and lover. If you’re willing to accept me after what I did…”
“You still didn’t explain me what the fuck is it with you and your so called new job. As far as I see it’s just the same you did so far…” Aiba crossed his arms over his chest staring stubbornly at the wall next to Sho’s head. Though he was extremely happy about what he said he decided not to give in to him so easily.
The manager chuckled at this scene.
“And I thought I was a slowpoke... It’s not exactly the same. From now I’ll be your permanent manager” he said.
“Permanent?” Aiba asked back blinking confused.
“Yup. When Johnny-san hired me first it was just till your 20th birthday. Since I’m close to you in age he thought I’ll be able to cure your rebellion during this time then I can go wherever I want with a really useful reference from Johnny Kitagawa himself. To tell you the truth I never wanted to become an idol’s manager yet Johnny-san’s reference can be pretty handy anywhere so I accepted the deal. But then… I know you… and fell for you very hard so I started to think about asking Johnny-san to let me be your full-time manager. But when you slapped me after my kiss… I thought you hate me so I decided that’s the better if I stick to the original deal and disappear from your life with your birthday…”
“But I didn’t hate you!” Aiba blurted out unable to hold back his words.
It made Sho chuckle again.
“I know. Now. But back then I had no idea about your real feelings so I did what I thought would be the best for you. Anyway to make the long story short after I got that accepting letter to that company and you walked out on me I had to reassess what’s actually important to me but even after I realized that it was you, you refused to talk to me or listen to me and Ninomiya-san also threatened me if I go anywhere near you he kills me… And again I just made the wrong decision and thought I hurt you more than enough and it’s just time for me to leave so I backed down without fighting for you… Will you ever forgive me for letting you down so much?” he asked eyes begging for forgiveness.
“Why are you here then? Won’t Nino just kill you?” Aiba asked instead to avoid admitting loudly that he forgave Sho long ago and tried to seem cold though he was truly touched that Sho admitted loud and clear that he was wrong.
“Cause you’re wearing this” Sho said simply reaching his hand out and pulled out Aiba’s necklace from under his T-shirt. “And it gave me hope to fight for you once again. Or for the first time…”
“How did you know?” Aiba gasped surprised.
“After your surgery a nurse gave it back to me for safeguarding” Sho answered. “Now that you know everything can we go home already? You were discharged from the hospital just a few hours ago and as your manager I have to be sure you rest enough as the doctor commanded”
They were standing in front of the elevators in the parking lot for more than half an hour now cause Aiba - being his stubborn self as always - refused to take a single step before he heard the full story.
“I thought you’ll take care of me as my boyfriend…” Aiba said ducking his head down to hide his burning red cheeks.
Hearing this answer Sho started to grin like an idiot but he couldn’t care less.
“My pleasure, love…” he said pulling the boy in his strong arms kissing him deeply with all his might as if he’d try to make it up for the lost weeks.
Aiba sighed and leaned into Sho’s embrace some more. Yeah, this was the place he was looking for all this time. Now, finally he arrived home…
“I love you, Sho…”
