After their talk, Masaki had to accept reality that they’ll always have to hide their relationship. He wasn’t happy about it but he believed Sho wasn’t either yet he bore with it so Masaki wanted t stay strong too…
It was the fourth day of the break and Masaki let himself sleep in. Not that he had anything to do or he could go anywhere. He wasn’t exactly in confinement but Shuntaro-san wasn’t happy with his final grades - without Sho’s or Nino’s help in studying, he could barely pass the average level… Therefore he decided to stay put during the break for not provoking the man’s anger further, despite the man leaving for a business trip right after spring break started.
It was half past 9 when he finally dragged himself out of bed and down the stairs to the kitchen, not minding too much that he was still wearing his bunny-printed pj’s.
“Finally, you’re up!”
“Huh?” Masaki blinked at his brother with sleepy eyes. “Oh, aniki, ohayou…”
“I was about to wake you up. I had no idea you were such a sleepyhead” Sho said grinning.
“Ohayou, Masaki!” his mother greeted him with a smile.
“Ohayou, kaa-chan!” he replied returning her smile.
“Come, eat your breakfast. Sho-kun was waiting for you…”
“He did?” the younger boy asked again surprised and turned back to him.
“Yeah, of course! Since we have plans for today” Sho said matter-of-factly and grinned some more.
“We have?” Masaki asked back again confused.
“Yeah, so hurry up and let’s go!”
“Okay!” Masaki said, his face lighting up with the brightest smile ever.
“You won’t take a step out of the house before you both finished your breakfast, young men!” Ayako-san threw in on a strict tone, yet with a smile playing on her lips. She was glad to see the boys getting along. She knew how much Masaki wished it and she could see how happy it made him now.
“Hai!” the boys said in union and reached for their chopsticks obediently…
“Where are we going? I don’t remember we made plans for today… Or any other day to be honest…” Masaki asked his brother when they got out of the house.
“Cause I wanted to surprise you!”
Masaki gasped. Suddenly his heart beat a lot faster and it wasn’t just because Sho had that amazingly handsome grin on his plump lips… 'He was thinking about me!' he thought happily as he kept his dazed glance on his brother’s face.
In the end it turned out they were going to the cinema to watch that new movie Sho heard Masaki nagging Nino to go cause he wanted to watch it. To Sho’s luck Nino refused to go so he could steal the idea to surprise his beloved Masaki. The younger boy was touched. He looked at his brother with adoring eyes since they arrived to the cinema and if that would not be enough… he almost fainted when Sho took his hand after they got their seats and didn’t let it go till the movie ended…
“Hungry?” Sho asked smiling when they walked out of the cinema nearly three hours later. Despite the amount of popcorn they munched away during the movie, it was still lunch time so the question seemed appropriate… and he wanted to prolong their date as well…
“Starving!” Masaki admitted shamelessly and grinned back at Sho.
“Where do you want to go? Pick any place you want!” Sho said generously.
At this Masaki’s eyes lit up happily.
“Any place’s okay?” he asked back to be sure.
“Yeah, it’s all up to you, baby! Today’s all about you!”
“Let’s go then! I know a great place!” he cheered and grabbing Sho’s hand he headed running to the nearest train station…
“Here it is!” Masaki announced pointing at the ramen shop in front of them.
‘This?’ Sho thought doubtfully. The place didn’t seem to be anything special. It was rather run-down and Sho’s first thought was that they should leave immediately cause this must be a yakuza hide-out. But before he could voice any of these thoughts Masaki already pulled the door open to skip in…
“Wait, Masaki!” Sho called after his boyfriend frustrated to stop him but he was already too late. With sigh he followed the younger boy.
“Irasshai!...” the groggy voice greeted them as they entered. Its owner was either too sleepy or too drunk already despite it was broad daylight.
“Tou-chan! How are you?” Masaki’s cheerful voice rang in the empty shop.
Sho’s head shot up at this. ‘Tou-chan?’ he thought but as he turned his glance to the man behind the counter, he did recognize, it was the same man he saw that day at the hospital when his beloved collapsed.
“Masaki! What brought you here, son?” the older man looked surprised.
“I missed you” the boy chirped honestly. “Also I wanted to introduce you someone. This is Sho. He’s my b…”
“Brother!” Sho threw in quickly, realizing what Masaki was about to say. “Well, step-brother actually but also I flatter myself to say I’m Masaki-kun’s friend as well. It’s nice to meet you, Aiba-san!” the older boy said bowing his head.
Masaki almost curled his lips into an offended pout but he quickly scolded himself mentally for being childish. ‘I almost busted us despite we already talked about so I have no right to act all offended! I have to be more careful! Thank God, Sho’s smart enough to cover up my slipping!’ he thought gratefully and looked at his boyfriend with adoring eyes.
“Well… any of Masaki’s friend is welcomed here” the man said finally as he eyed Sho rather suspiciously. “So, can I get you something to eat? It’s on the house of course…”
“Yeah! Thanks tou-chan!” Masaki said quickly, delighted and dragged Sho to a boost in the back to sit down and eat…
Though they chatted and laughed during their meal, Sho couldn’t get rid of his uneasy feeling of wanting to get out of there as soon as possible. He felt the eyes of Masaki’s father on him and it made the soft hair on the back of his neck stood and from time to time he felt cold shiver running down his spine. But he did his best to push aside these feelings. His Masaki was happy; he was so much at ease here! More than he ever saw him before so he’ll endure anything to see those happy sparks in those soft brown eyes…
It was late afternoon when the Sakurai brothers returned home. On their whole way home Masaki babbled cheerfully about his childhood memories of the time he spent at that restaurant. Sho listened to him with a soft, contented mile on his lips. Maybe his good memories cause that he didn’t see the horrible state that the restaurant was in now…
“Tadaima!” they said in union while kicking off their shoes and getting rid off their coats.
“Okaeri!” Ayako-san emerged from the kitchen, smiling as ever. “Did you two have fun today?”
“Yeah! We went to the cinema with aniki and then we ate tou-chan’s ramen!” Masaki summarized their day happily.
“Really? That’s great…” the woman said smiling but Sho could see her face darken at the mention of Masaki’s father…
“Ne, Sho!... Thank you for today…” the younger boy grabbed Sho’s hand to stop him when they reached upstairs. “I had a lot of fun…”
“I’m glad you enjoyed it. That was my purpose anyway…” Sho said smirking smugly but it quickly faded when he caught the younger fiddling the hem of his shirt, eyes casted down. “Hey, baby, what’s wrong?... If I did something wrong with today’s date, just tell me! I won’t do it anymore. I fix it and we can do another try of perfect date tomorrow…”
A quick smile ran over Masaki’s lips but soon the sad expression returned to his face.
“No! You were perfect as always… The date was perfect as well…” he said looking with his adoring eyes on his brother. “It’s just…”
“Just?” Sho urged him when he went silent and took Masaki’s hand in his to tug the boy closer. “You know you can tell me anything, right?”
“I just wish I could’ve introduced you as my boyfriend…” he admitted silently and blushed in deep red color. “I know! It’s stupid, I’m sorry I brought it up at all!” he added quickly and tried to move away when he heard his brother huffing annoyed.
But Sho suddenly pulled him in his arms to embrace him tightly. He hated to see him so insecure.
“No, it’s not stupid. But you know we can’t… I want nothing else but to be able shout to world your mine and I hate it that we can’t… I’m so sorry baby…” he whispered onto his temple kissing it gently and relieved slightly when he felt Masaki’s skinny arms wrapping around his waist. “Now… Do you wanna play some games…? I’m not even close to Nino’s level but I’m sure I can still give you a run for your winning!” he said joking.
“I’d love to see you trying! I’m trained on said Nino, don’t forget that!” Masaki chirped hyped up again and skipped to his room with Sho following him…
The rest of the break went mostly as the day of their first date. Everyday Sho took Masaki on a little date. Sometimes they just walked around the near-by park. On other days they went out to eat ice cream or cake or anything else the younger felt like at the moment. Even if they stayed at home - Masaki insisted on this every other day, fearing to enrage Shuntaro-san with the constant going out - they spent with each other together every minute…
Or at least they wanted to…
“Yo!”
It was almost the end of the break when Sho found a grinning Nino - accompanied with Ohno of course - on their doorstep when he went to answer the doorbell.
“What are you doing here?” Sho asked not even trying to cover up the annoyed tone of his. He didn’t want to share his Masaki, at least not during the rest of the break.
“Aw, don’t be such a grumpy old man, Sho-kun!” Nino snickered, seeing through the older boy easily.
“I’m not grumpy!” Sho denied quickly. “Anyway, thanks for the visit, now you can go! See you at school next week!” he added wanting to get rid of their friends as soon as possible and moved to close the door in the face.
“Who’s that, Sho-kun?” Ayako-san came out from the kitchen at the voices. “Oh, Ninomiya-kun, Ohno-kun! Nice to see you!” the woman said with a bright smile when she spotted the boys. “Come on in! Sho-kun, give them slippers, please!”
Sho bit back his annoyed groan but did as he was told.
“Ojamashimasu!” Nino singsonged grinning charmingly at Masaki’s mother as he entered with the shamelessly snickering Ohno behind him…
“Oh, Nino-chan, Ohno-kun! What are you doing here?” Masaki asked - surprised but happy to see his friends - when the three boys entered the living room.
“We thought about visiting you two, can’t we?” the shortest student asked.
“Sure, you can!”
“No, you can’t!”
The Sakurai boys said at the same time.
Masaki blinked at his brother surprised while the older stared annoyed at the intruders.
“Aw, come on, Sho! I wanted to talk to you actually. Kazu just decided to use the opportunity to visit Ma-chan too” Ohno spoke up for the first time since they arrived - though it was still obvious he was kind of amused by seeing the pissed of Sho - then grabbing Sho’s arm, he dragged his friend to Sho’s room to speak…
“I’ve got a new game, wanna try?” Nino asked Masaki cheekily when their boyfriends were out of sight.
“Sure, let’s go!” Masaki cheered grinning and the boys raced up to the former’s room…
An hour and three defeats on Masaki’s side later Ohno wandered in Masaki’s room, watching the younger boys with a smile on his lips. Neither Masaki, nor Nino noticed his arrival cause they were too absorbed in the fourth round of game, both of them practically shouting with the TV screen during it…
“There you are! I had no idea where you could disappear…” Sho commented when he found his friend in his lover’s room.
“Ah, gomen, I got caught up in watching them…” he said with a smile motioning toward the boys though his eyes were on his boyfriend only.
Sho nodded at this. He could understand. He’d be caught up too seeing the cute, little concentrated pout on Masaki’s lips…
“Aaah!” Masaki cried out dropping the consol as the Game Over sign appeared on the screen, indicating his defeat once again.
“Ha-ha! Told you, you won’t have a chance!” Nino mocked him victorious.
“Mou! Don’t be mean, Nino-chan!”
The taller boy whined squirming on the floor to get away from his friend’s poking fingers and noticed the two older boys just then. Immediately he jumped and ran to his brother.
“Sho! Nino-chan’s a meanie! Save me!” he whimpered clinging to the older boy, hiding his face in the crook of his neck.
Sho wrapped an arm around him and patted his head gently.
“It’s okay, baby boy, he can’t hurt you anymore…” he murmured in his hair and kissed his temple softly.
“Aww, how sweet!” Nino cooed on a mocking tone, laughing at the couple.
Sho immediately shot his death glare to the younger student.
“Satoshi, I think that was your cue to take your boyfriend away before I throw him out…” he said without turning his stare away from Nino.
“Wow, how scary! Really, Sho-kun, you got the hang of this yakuza boss acting really well…”
“Ma-ma! That’s enough, Kazu!” Ohno interrupted his boyfriend. He saw his lover was just being the brat he is, and also it was obvious Masaki knew his friend would hurt him actually. It all was just an act but what wasn’t false was Sho’s temper. He was overly possessive with Masaki and Ohno decided they pushed their luck long enough… “I think we intruded enough on Sho and Ma-chan. Let’s go home, ne?” he said pulling Nino up and out of the room.
“Hey, and what about my game?” Nino tried protesting and struggling - not too hard though - against Ohno’s grip.
“Ma-chan will bring it back to you when school starts again” Ohno said simply. “See you next week, Sho, Ma-chan! Don’t worry, we know the way out!” the chubby faced student called over his shoulder before the lumbered down the stairs with Nino…
“It wasn’t necessary to throw them out, you know?” Masaki asked mumbling into Sho’s neck.
Despite the ‘bully’ leaving and him not needing ‘protection’ anymore, he didn’t move from his hiding place. He was just too comfortable there…
Not that Sho’d shown any signs of letting him go either…
“I know. But Satoshi was right. They intruded long enough. I lost more than an hour of alone time with you already…” he finished and pouted his lips.
Masaki giggled in his neck and it sent delicious shiver over Sho’s skin.
“Com’ere, babe…” Sho murmured and pulled Masaki’s face up to kiss him but just as their lips were about to touch they heard footsteps coming toward Masaki’s opened bedroom door.
Groaning frustrated Sho disentangled himself from the younger boy who looked equally disappointed - and a lot more blushed - but didn’t make a fuss as he moved to pack up the game consol just when Ayako-san came in sight of them.
“I saw your friends leaving. I thought they’ll stay for dinner as well…” she said on a bit disappointed tone.
She loved to have the boys’ friends over. It made the house a lot livelier and she could pretend they were all her boys…
“Yeah, they had to go sadly…” Sho said simply and just a tiny bit mocking.
“Too bad. Next time don’t forget to invite them for dinner!” she reminded them with a smile.
“Yeah, yeah, sure…” Sho rolled his eyes.
Masaki chuckled at his brother’s lack of enthusiasm.
“I’ll tell them, kaa-chan, don’t worry. I know how much you love to throw parties!” he said skipping to his mother to peck her cheek.
The woman chuckled at this.
“Well, even if it will be just the three of us tonight, you can still help me prepare dinner” she practically ordered her son before left.
“Hai!” Masaki called after her and was about to follow her when Sho grabbed his wrist and pulled him back. “What?” he asked looking confused.
“Where’s my goodbye-kiss?” the older boy asked with a frown.
Masaki giggled at this.
“Sho! I’m just going downstairs, not out of the country!”
“You’re still leaving me behind!” Sho retorted.
“You’re always welcome to help out in the kitchen too!” the younger boy said cheekily.
“No, I’d rather not” Sho deadpanned. “And I want my kiss. Now!”
Masaki moved closer till their lips were almost touching.
“You’re spoiled…” he whispered with happily twinkling eyes.
“And whose fault that is?...”
Masaki held back another giggle and instead pressed their lips together for a second.
“Jya, ittekimasu…”
“No, you’re not going anywhere…” Sho said tugging at his hand again, making the younger stumble into his chest. “You’re cutting shorter my alone time with you again. I want compensation” he explained seeing his confused eyes and before Masaki could say anything he locked their lips again. Sho’s tongue found its way in the younger’s mouth, playing with his and earning a throaty moan from him. Masaki felt his knees buckle under him and clung onto Sho more while their tongues danced sensually. It felt just too good to stop yet…
“Now, you may leave…” Sho said mercifully when they finally broke apart but smirked smugly when he saw his beloved all blushed and panting heavily.
Not finding his voice, Masaki just nodded and stumbled out the room. Sho stared after him still smirking. Yeah, it was definitely the best spring break ever so far…
