Shou's POV

"Don'tcha think it's kinda weird that Miyavi let us split up like this?" Ruki asks Hiroto as we head down the road.
"Not really," the young man says. "Why do you think it's weird?"
"Well, isn't he supposed to be checking on us? He can't really do that unless he's with us, ya know."
"I suppose not."
"But he had a good point about the magic," Nao adds. "It wouldn't do to have both of you in the same group."
"You know that's not the real reason," Reita smiles at the others.
"What was?" I ask, not knowing enough about my companions to guess.
"Well, you know that Ruki is Hiroto's fairy god person, right? So Ruki's job, if you will, is to make sure that Hiroto gets a happily-ever-after."
"But unlike the other cases, I don't want a prince. No offense," he says to Reita.
Who only smiles back.
"So what? Both of you are couples, right?"
"That's the short answer," Nao says. "The longer version is that we're all still getting to know each other."
"So the happy ending hasn't happened yet?" I ask.
"Happy endings aren't guaranteed," Hiroto says.
"Which means, Ruki's 'job' might never be over." Reita adds.
"Well, that sucks," I say, causing the others to laugh.
"Nicely put," Nao grins at me. "But luckily for all of us, me and Hiroto have become quite fond of each other while Reita and Ruki have managed to get rather close as well."
"So as long as the four of you stay together, everything works out for everybody?"
"Basically."
As we continue riding along, I watch the way the others interact.
Realizing that Reita and Nao act as much like brothers as Kai and Aoi did.
And Hiroto get's babied a bit by Ruki.
But he doesn't seem to mind.
Teasing the other man.
I find myself laughing along.
"When do you think we'll find it? The place where Saga's at?" Hiroto asks as we stop for lunch.
"Hopefully it's just on the other side fo these woods. We should know after nightfall."
"So we're going to keep riding tonight?"
"Yeah, we'll make camp if we reach the house."
"What if it's not there?" I voice my concern.
"Then we keep searching. But we still won't make camp tonight until we find out if there IS a house on the other side."
"We'll wait until morning to show Saga either way."
By the time we reach the other side of the woods, I'm already half asleep.
I don't feel quite so bad, watching Ruki hide a yawn behind his hand.
Reita helps me out of the saddle, as the others all look for a house.
I smile back at Reita, as he pats my shoulder.
Turning, I catch sight of some light filtering thru a window.
"Looks like there is a house here," I murmur, numb.
Can it really be almost over?
Nao hands me some bread and cheese "Eat, then sleep. We'll check with Saga tomorrow. After we've all gotten some sleep."
I nod, taking both from him.
He chuckles, leading me over to where the others are already sitting.
"Do you want first watch?" Reita asks Nao.
"Watch? What, you guys are gonna set a watch?" Ruki says, yawning again.
"We don't know anything about this house. It could be harmless," Reita says. "But then again, we don't really know."
"Besides, if this is where Saga is, and that guy comes back, wouldn't you rather we have someone on guard? Just in case?" Nao adds.
We all nod at that.
Morning dawns bright and clear.
We're all a little too anxious to eat.
So we go right to showing Saga the house.
I get a little worried when he doesn't say anything.
Then I hear him say very quietly, "That's it. That's the house Tora and I went in."
And now I'm even more anxious.
"Ok, so take him," Reita says, handing the mirror back to me. "Nao, you and Hiroto go around back. We'll take the front."
"I don't have to remind you to be careful, do I?" Nao says, looking seriously at Reita.
"No. You do the same, right?"
To which Nao just nods.
I follow as Reita and Ruki start towards the front door.
Clutching Saga's mirror.
"Wait," I stop them. "There isn't a tower. Saga can't be here."
Ruki shakes his head. "What we see may only be an image. Projected over the actual building. The tower could actually be here."
"It'd be a nice trick to throw us off. That's why we have to check." Reita says, encouragingly.
"Oh. I hadn't thought of that."
Reita quietly opens the door, pearing into the house.
He slips inside, Ruki right behind him.
I follow, a bit slower.
I really don't want any nasty surprises.
I take a look around the room.
Not recognizing it from any of my dream-visions.
We keep moving, checking each of the rooms until we meet up with Nao and Hiroto.
"Anything?" Nao asks hopefully.
"No. I take it you didn't find anything either."
Nao shakes his head.
"What's that?" Hiroto asks, pointing.
I turn, bringing Saga around to see as well.
There's light coming from under a wall.
"A fake wall?" Ruki asks.
"Looks that way. Try to find something to trigger it to open."
We all move around the room, touching the walls, moving things around.
Until, suddenly we all hear the sound of creaking.
And then the wall starts to slide open.
Revealing another room.
This one I recognize.
But before we can move, a shape rises from the floor.
"Tora" I whisper, seeing the stripes on his fur.
He stops, turning to face me fully.
"You know me?" he says, voice rough.
"Not really. But I know Saga," I say, holding the mirror out.
