writer's block
The topic for day 24 is, again, "whatever tickles your fancy." I'm feeling pretty uncreative today (and probably will be on day 30 as well...why do they have so many of these non-prompts?!?!?!) so I'm going to use the "Writer's Block" prompt from the 24th, when I was supposed to write this.
What do you expect to be doing ten years from today, and where do you hope to be living?
This is a pretty easy one given the current trajectory. I'm hoping for the MD/PhD program to take eight years, though it may be nine. Which means that in 10 years I'll be in my fourth year after graduation. We hope to live in Boston (lots of hospitals, great research opportunities, particularly in diabetes research, which I hope to be doing, nice city) doing a "research residency" (i.e. linked residency, fellowship, and postdoc). I'll be in the last year of my fellowship in endocrinology and will be heading into the postdoc period. If I'm going to have children, which I think but don't know I will, we should really be working on that by ten years from now (have you seen the graphs of how the risk of chromosomal abnormalities go up exponentially with age?!?!?), so that could change the plan slightly. When I picture myself in ten years, Curt is definitely there, paddling through the second year of his fellowship too.
I'm really not good at smooth closings to these things, but um, that's it for now! Back soon with my day (yesterday) in excruciating detail!
