Oh, Chinatown by
anilkex1give me san francisco! give me chinatown! it gets super foggy and polluted and that's screwing with sam's allergies (maybe asthma?), not to mention all of the incense and foreign spices in the shops. maybe a sweet chinese lady sees him suffering and offers a bunch of traditional alternative medicines, which either help immensely or makes things a lot worse. bonus points for including public transportation somewhere (and dean getting pissed that he needs to leave his baby in the motel parking lot) since traffic is awful and the train/buses are famously efficient
A Tricky Predicament by Anonymous
The Trickster curses one or multiple of the boys to be allergic to rocksalt.
Prologue by
senberet I really enjoyed the third person fic 'Concentration', but I found myself wanting to see the caretaking and stuff that followed the hunt. Continuation? From either Sam or Dean's perspective? ('Concentration' can be found
here.)
Cure From The East by
anilkex1 So! Early season nine, they're all set up in the bunker with Kevin, maybe Cas is there, maybe not (I'm pretty indifferent). Aaaand Sam comes down with this really completely horrible cold that just totally knocks him out, maybe he's weak from the aftermath of the trials or something, maybe he caught it on a case or at the store or even from some bitch reason like being in the rain/cold too long, I don't know, doesn't matter, take your pick. And at first he's all 'whatever, I'm fine' (typical Sam Winchester) about it, but seriously, this thing came on fast and by mid-afternoon he's pretty much bedridden (couch-ridden?) and yeah of course he's frustrated about it, but you know what, shove it, Sam, you're sick as a dog, you're not getting up today.
And because I love (love love love!) Kevin Tran, let's say that he knows this recipe for a really spicy Chinese soup (what's with me and China today? jeez) that his mom would always make when he was sick, so he goes with Dean to the grocery store to help him pick out all of the ingredients. Bonding time for Dean and Kevin! (Maybe they talk about Sam, or getting sick, or Sam getting sick or how they usually get sick at the same time because they share so much of the same space or the job or the trials or school or the cello or or or you know what it doesn't really matter to me I'll love it no matter what) AND, hmm, let's also say that Dean is coming down with the same bug that Sam has, only it's obviously not as bad quuiiiite yet but it's starting to hit him and although he was planning on cooking the soup for his sick baby brother, by the time they get home he's all dizzy and sneezy and weak and tired and SOOO it's Kevin's turn to cook! (And maybe Cas can help?)
And! Then I guess there's a lot of... Kevin/Cas/both taking care of the brothers in the bunker, maybe some Kevin-Sam bonding too if you can fit that in but this is pretty complicated already soooo just! Do what you want with it! Slash is good, gen is good, seriously I'm cool with aaaaall of it.
Playground Rules by
anilkex1 Looking after Sam when he's sick and not hunting is fine, Dean knows what to do with that, what's really tough is when Sam's on the mend and wants to get back on the job. Trying to figure out where he's gonna be a bit weaker, what he can still handle. It's a complete balancing act between giving him enough responsibility that he doesn't get grouchy but setting sufficient secret restrictions to keep him safe. Its a touch call, but if anyone can do it, it's Dean.
Trust by
sexualoddity Is zeke really healing sam? When sam starts comming down with a bad cold dean starts to question the angles motives.
Anything with a sick!sam and dean getting mad a zeke while still trying to keep the secret from sammy.
Some suggestions for the prompt:
Maybe kevin starts having a go at the care taking. Sam is reluctant to exept help-of course
Human cas is living in the bunker and also trys to help. Perhaps sam's sneezes are messy and sudden and dean really wants to keep cas from catching it as he is weak in his new human form.
Maybe sam is still working. Doing reaserch about the angles, interigating crowley. Maybe the king of hell starts to notice and teases him.
Homespun by
senberetThey haven't had all that much cause to discover this before, but it turns out that Sam is completely and helplessly allergic to domesticity - hoovering, dusting, cleaning products, pot plants, the whole kit and caboodle. The bunker turns out to be something of a mixed blessing.
Pine Trees by
maijunejuly Sam and Dean working a case on a Christmas Tree farm. Sam's sort of (very) allergic, but they never really knew this because they didn't have a real tree growing up. They end up (eventually) figuring it out, so Dean sends Sam back to the little cafe/gift shop that the farm has set up, complete with a fireplace and a lot of big, fluffy couches (and two of the owner's dogs).
Dean goes back into the area with all the trees to finish interviewing people and leaves Sam there all sniffly on the couch. Maybe a nice family thinks he's just got a really awful cold ('tis the season, after all) and Sam doesn't really have time to explain that he's fine before they dote on him a little bit and buy him a hot drink.
(Maybe Sam is also kind of allergic to Dean when he gets back, and in the car, too, because he smells just like pine and he's got needles all over his coat and in his hair.)
Dilute by
senberet Ummm, so hi. I was hoping someone might be willing to write a Stanford fic with Jess taking care of a sick Sam. It can even be at a really stressful time, like during mid terms or finals.
Two trials and a half by
foxonthemoonDean is sick right when Sam is suffering after the first two trials. He has to negotiate between being around enough that he can make sure that Sam is okay, and not getting his brother sick on top of everything else.
Smoke by
anilkex1 i just learned from my friend that 60 or 70 years ago, back when EVERYONE was smoking cigarettes, that smell would linger on everything because they would smoke all of the time and in all of the places. and as a result, a lot of other scented things (cologne, perfume) were made to be a lot stronger, so that they were noticeable over the scent of tobacco.
so i'm thinking like. make sam and dean travel that far back for whatever reason, or maybe make them investigate a case that involves some sort of event or group of people that roleplays that time period in a VERY authentic way. aaaand. make sam or dean allergic/sensitive to all of the smoke and the strong perfumes (even after they leave, because it's still in their clothes and hair).
Mint by
sexualoddity You know how mint makes some people sneeze? Yeah. Give that to Sam.
(spearmint gum, toothpaste, candycanes, minty ginger lemonade, peppermint holiday coffee and hot chocolate... that minty eucalyptus humidity in a sauna... mojitos... minty chapstick... mint tea... medicinal mint oil... mint air fresheners... mint mint mint mint everything!)
You could do one long fic or a bunch of little snippets of his experience with it. Maybe (probably) Dean thinks that it is super weird also. And kind of hilarious.
Unexpected Consequences by
anilkex1Alright, so we just had Jess taking care of Sam, but now what if we have a sick Dean stopping by to visit his baby brother, and Jess insists on taking care of him and making him soup and all that jazz
Patient Zero by
senberetI want to imagine Jared with a cold at a convention, being really self-conscious and trying not to get anyone sick (although Jensen's totally next, and he knows it) and talking about it and missing Gen and feeling suuuper super miserable. The fans are all totally sweet to him, of course.
Typhoid Becky by
sexualoddity Someone dug up Pestilence's ring and is having fun giving the guys (Sam, Dean, Bobby, maybe even Cas) all kind of minor illnesses. Isn't it a strange coincidence when Becky happens to be near by and willing to care for them (with a neat preference for Sam)? Is it a trick or a misguided attempt to rekindle their old relationship?
Mind Over Matter by
anilkex1After Jess' death Sam develops a horrible allergy to smoke and the smell of burning. It turns out to be psychological, but given the amount of burning things they do in their day to day lives, it's something of a problem. Dean has to figure out a way to fix his brother.
