I wrote this for a little contest that John Scalzi was having over on Whatever, and then I realized that it didn't really fit what he was looking for. I kind of liked it anyway, so I thought I'd post it here. I haven't written anything in ages, so it was fun to do.

All right, so I know not many people read this or anything, but I am in Japan. I'm in Makino, in Shiga Prefecture. It's a little hick town (a dude from Kyoto called it "bumpkin" yesterday. So, JET calls me today. Apparently, they got to me on their alternates list and I now have a spot. This makes me feel better, even though I still don't know whether or not I'll take the job.
