Wow. Whole lotta nothing going on. So my modes went holiday --> vacation --> holiday, and so I haven't done much of anything. I got my three plaid skirts (mundane/steampunk wear) made. I've made some minor progress on the reverse-pattern firebird cross-stitch ( Read more... ) -
Crawling out from under the rock
Well, the second half of October and all of November pretty much SUCKED work-wise, so I haven't really had much motivation to do projects. I very desultorily worked on a firebird cross-stitch I'd started over Labor Day weekend... and finished it on Thanksgiving. Oy vey ( Read more... ) -

I know what I said...
But i'm still working on a gerdany project. I decided to make a men's medallion style gerdan for Aleksei, and document it step by step.... which actually involved making the medallion, setting it aside, doing a bunch of research, taking the medalion apart & completely changing my approach. Bollocks
$20 and two weeks of waiting, and the book doesn't contain a single useable pattern or chart, AND seems to place gerdany well out of SCA period.
Damn.
Aleksei says "Who cares? It still looks awesome."
But in light of this information, until further notice, Gerdany classes are retired. -
The interesting things one "inherits"
In random oddness, I looked into an ancient brown paper bag (since dated to the mid 1960s.... no, that's not a joke, the BAG ITSELF is 50 years old) to ruminate upon the 32 individually packaged 5mm cultured Japanese pearls which had belonged to my grandmother, which my mother passed on to me.
