I appreciate the advice about how to warp up stuff, but my problem really was that I had already CUT 300 yards of string, all at unfortunately slightly varying lengths, knotted them, and now was trying to manage them. I think I'm going to fall back on the grosgrain ribbon. Sir C-- wanted woven, but to do this I really am going to have to build a loom. The inkle doesn't let me tension properly. I tried using my Q-snap embroidery frame, which isn't a bad idea, per se, but isn't quite as effective as I'd ( Read more... ) -

Gettin' there.
Today I got the entire fighting tunic constructed. So all that's left on this project is to weave the trim & applique it to the tunic. And I only need 2 lengths of about 20", because it's only the biceps he wants trimmed. Fortunately, tomorrow is Birka -- I can pick up more cards, which I need, and maybe get some advice. So, the first "checky" was a big old fail... until I remembered that I HAD 1" black & white checkerboard fabric in a box, because I'd used it to make a bustle overskirt. That let me finish the first "fancy" tunic, which is the important one for right now ( Read more... ) -
