I have two dozen posts (or maybe one just really long, fragmented one) to write, but in the meantime I have to use LJ as my personal filing system. Below is a link to a house we toured and fell in love with on our recent trip to Kankakee. Any small prayers/offerings/sacrifices to the real estate saint/deity of your choice would be most ( Read more... )

The historic neighborhood in which it's located is pretty close to one that's pretty run down and crime-ridden, but one look at the wood floor in the dining room (with its inlaid star design) pretty much erased all fears. I love it, but fear it won't be around by the time our house sells in CA. :(

It MIGHT. And you should do the St. Joseph thing. Blame it all on me if Baby Jesus asks.

By the way, is your name Jefferson for real? I don't believe you!

Thank you! My mom recommended burying a St. Joseph statue in our yard, but that always struck me as sacri-licious. We're trying to come up with other ways of securing the house without resorting to idolatry, although in another month or so I won't be quite so averse to damning my soul to eternal damnation in exchange for a quick sale.

As blair suggested below, you could say a prayer to St. Joseph, though I already said one for your whole family.

It is so good to hear from you! I really, really, really want you to get that house so I can come visit you in it! Gorgeous and HUGE! Fireplace! That means roasting marshmallows whenever you want!

Good luck with everything Jeff! Come back soon! Fall TV is starting up soon!

P.S.: my sad, misunderstood, Emo boy icon says 'hey' to your sad, misunderstood sourgirl icon.

You'd better be careful. negihama told me that we should outbid you on that house.

The house is big enough where we can all live together in harmony! The true cost, of course, is having to live in Kankakee, IL - which, to put it nicely, is a bit of a hellhole.

That house is stunning and completely screams "Perfect for Jeff and Family".

I'm sorry the house in Ventura is sitting. I'm sure your realtor is on it, but I've seen people have some luck in this market with things like raising the commission for the buyer's agent, or offering to pay the buyer's closing costs.

Fingers sososo crossed.

Thank you for the advice and support, Mallory. Alas, lowering the price hasn't raised interest a bit, and so it still sits. Christine is taking over the process now, so hopefully she'll be more tenacious than I when it comes to bugging our realtor about what's happening with the house.

*gasps* I covet a house like that ;)!

Great to see you're back Jeff! You're really missed around these parts. I'll definitely be praying for you guys in that you all sell your house and will get to buy this one! And in Catholic tradition I'll be asking for St. Joseph's prayers also, in that he's supposed to help in times when trying to sell/buy homes. That's what my mom and dad did and we sold our house to the first people who looked at it (and this was in a neighborhood people were looking to get out of and it was nearly impossible to sell houses there). I wish you guys the best!

It's truly a dream house for my wife and I, and one that will make the pain of moving someplace like Kankakee easier to bear.

Thanks for your prayers. It would be awesome to get a little St. Joe intercession right now, this is for sure. :)
