It's a beautiful day here in the Pacific Northwest.  There's not going to be too many more of these from what we hear, so we're heading out to hit the trails.  Gonna do a nice couple-hour hike at Cougar Mountain, break in the new hiking boots & daypacks.

My best friend and her family live in Dry Creek, Louisiana, a bit north of Lake Charles area.  They were hit but not badly a week ago by Hurricane Gustav.  The area was practically demolished 3 years ago by Hurricane Rita.  People in their area are still struggling to rebuild their lives post-Rita ( Read more... )

So, we are at T-minus 2 days till go time.  Got travel confirmation today for departure on Wednesday afternoon from St. John's to Seattle.

The movers have just arrived to start prepacking the house.  I was able to get everything prepped for them, with exception of the bedroom and the bathroom counter, by midnight last night.  They will be prepacking today and monday, and loading the truck on tuesday, for our household to begin its journey to Seattle.

Woke up today and saw it was beautiful outside- not too hot, blue skies- an overall inviting day.  I decided to go for a bike ride (I have a 21 speed mountain bike).  I tended to my bike the other day so I knew that it was all ready to go- air in tires, brakes checked, remembered lock combination, located helmet and riding gloves.  I figured I'd ( Read more... )
