Denny and attended the Cambria Eisteddvod (Welsh bardic competition) at a small winery to the west of Mankato. It was a nice day for it. Have been obsessed with getting the garden in shape this year. We finally took the plunge and made raised beds for the veg garden in the back. It was a lot of work for two fat older people, but I think it will have been worth it. Minicon, though small, seemed to go along just fine. Lots of people to reconnect with, and some new ones to meet.Pretty good art show and crafts, and lots of books in the vendor area. I actually managed to get music onto the computer and on to the MP3 player and didn't even cry. So now Oyster Band, Boiled in Lead, Dr. Jane, Tannahill Weavers, Gordon Bok, Louis Armstrong, Zakir Huissane,the Kamakazi Ground Crew, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Beatles all the others and I can commune. Whew!

It's odd watching the snow melt. For one thing, hooray, but on the other hand, there's the leaky basement and ice interspersed with deep puddles on the sidewalks and streets. More snow on the old snow. That's 3 snow emergencies called in 8 days. This morning there was freezing drizzle to make everything all shiny and slippery. Oddly, traffic wasn't bad.

Glad we had the warning about the storm. It's so bad they closed the University at 1 pm, today. Everything's white and blowing around out there. I measured this morning and it was already about 10 inches, and is probably way above that, now. Huge drifts everywhere ( Read more... )
