I was so busy last week working on my talk for the collaboration meeting (which went well) that I forgot to post that I won the Scharff Award Scholarship from the Department of Physics at my school. Well, there is a new member to our family. It is a 1997 (late model year) Honda Civic EX with 68000 miles single owner. So that is an upgrade in model and a reduction in miles over what we had before. It is red, like our old car, but it has power windows, power locks, power mirrors, sliding moon roof and cruise control. It has a 125 hp VTEC engine ( Read more... )

Well, I was at work when the insurance adjustor called. The initial estimate for repairs on the car were sufficient to declare it a total loss. I was trying to be hopeful and think the car was repairable, but deep down I knew it was probably going to be totaled. Well, now in addition to RotK:EE, I have another DVD set to look forward to this fall. The classic Star Wars movies. Well, mkII really, as it will be the versions with the extra special effects. But I'm ok with that. :o)

Regardless of what the title says, today started out being fairly uneventful. Just the usual Monday meetings, updating of documentation, that sort of stuff. Well, I got my two imported DVDs today. I popped one in the DVD player and the first thing I got was a region whine screen. Not to be discouraged, I had the magic set of button pushes (5 in all) to use on the remote. Next thing I know, the DVD is playing in all its anamorphic splendor.
