MIT has developed a "paper towel" made of nanowires to clean up oil spills. It even recovers the oil.

Echinoderms are Exciting
Have you ever seen a sea star move?
I had never seen this before. Though I did know that they move using hydraulics! Basically, they use a vascular system to take in water (through the madreporite) and essentially move it to the rays (arms) of the direction they want to go. I think this is very cool ( Read more... ) -

great Hawking quote
Stephen Hawking recently spoke about his desire for more funding for manned space missions and bases on the moon and Mars. He wants .25 of the world's GDP to be spent on this, mostly to ensure the long-term survival of the human race.
