I did actually manage to pull off having a garage sale this weekend--despite being up till 2am Thursday night setting stuff up, everything miraculously came together. Well, hiking season being officially over (at least for us...though soon they'll be shutting down portions of the SHT for deer hunting season anyway) we're back to life as it was. And pictureless posts. Hey, at least I'm posting.

 Two weeks ago, when we went on our first Superior Hiking Trail hike, we chose the section we were going to hike over a month in advance. We had studied the section description in our SHT walking guide and the topographical maps until we knew pretty much every bump and funny-shaped tree we were going to pass along the way. Absolutely glorious weekend. It was snowing when we set out down the trail on Friday morning, and we walked approximately 18 miles over the course of the weekend (15 with packs, 3 sans) and yet somehow I still wasn't really ready to be done when we got back last night. We're already planning our next trip.

Ok, I promise, I am still alive. Things keep happening too quickly to journal about them, but here's a quick synopsis of the past month or so:

I guess when other states get hurricanes, we get crazy tempests like we had last night. And apparently we had one last Friday night, too, but we slept right through that one.
