Please welcome... the CSI franchise!

The anonymous tipper who suggested someone smoked a Morley cigarette in the fifth season premiere of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was only one season out, it was in the sixth season premiere, "Bodies in Motion" - as backed-up by a discussion of the episode.

Obviously, one CSI brings in the other two CSI: Miami and CSI: New York. Anybody know if ( Read more... )

Oh, I can name shows set in Miami, but I don't know that they could ever be tied in: Golden Girls, Empty Nest, Nurses, and Golden Palace were all in Miami, and wasn't one incarnation of Jackie Gleason in Miami after he moved there?

As my crossover compadres know, their Westphallian view of the TV Universe differs from my Toobworld version. I like to fill in the blanks with the theoretical.

So I've assumed there is a link between 'CSI: NY' and 'NCIS' because both Mac Taylor and Leroy Jethro Gibbs were in the Lebanon Marine bunker that was destroyed by a car bombing back in the early 1980s.

I understand why it wouldn't be accepted here, but Toobworld treats the TV Universe like gumbo - everything gets thrown into the same pot.

(Glad I checked with IMDb.com first - I almost typed Gibbs' name as "Luther Homer".)

Were there flashbacks to that historical event on both shows?

Did they use the same set for both?

I can't speak for certain as to 'NCIS', but Mac did have flashbacks to that event on 'CSI:NY', in a case whose suspect was also there at that time. This occurred in last season's final episode, "Charge Of This Post".

But both shows have made reference to Mac and Gibbs being there at that time.

Like I said, I'm not sure the Westphall version of the TV Universe wants to delve into connections to historical events - it kind of falls into the same category as real life corporations I would think.

For Toobworld, it's fine as these events happen there as well, so it should be a connection. That way, I can connect a lot of shows through such things as the sinking of the Titanic for example. And of course, the current trend is to look at the WTC attacks in a fictional storyline, so there are connections to be made through that.....

On tonight's episode, "North Mammon", 13 Morley 100s cigarette butts are an important piece of evidence. I don't watch the show, but I happened to flip past it just as this reference appeared.

As Well As "Friday Night Lights"? tele_toby November 2 2006, 17:27:35 UTC
This is from Michael Ausiello's column for TV Guide:

Re: 'Heroes'.....

Hiro's getting a honey! In the Nov. 13 episode, he crosses paths with a lady (Jayma Mays) on his way to New York, and she steals his heart. Oh, and Friday Night Lights fans will get a kick out of where they meet: a diner near Odessa, Texas.

So since 'Heroes' has linked to 'Las Vegas' with Hiro gambling in the Montecito, this would bring in 'Friday Night Lights' as well, right?

I guess Odessa, Texas, is a real town, based on the Google hits. However, I have to ask as I'm not a viewer - does it have a fictional diner used by the characters?

If they used the same sets, I think that qualifies, right?

The diner has appeared in both shows. I always figured the two series would cross over with Claire's school facing the Panthers in a big game on FNL.

Not a TV Show, But... anonymous November 3 2006, 00:27:39 UTC
According to Wikipedia--

In the fourth season episode "Collision" of CSI: Miami, Ana Cristina De Oliveira plays a bartender named Rita Davis.

In Miami Vice--the movie, I mean--Ana Cristina De Oliveira plays a bartender named Rita.

Probably not enough to connect the movie, but it's quite interesting.

The Tommyverse doesn't include movies, but it is an interesting factoid.

I just found your site, today... bttf4444 November 7 2006, 03:33:32 UTC
I just recently wrote a fanfic story where Marty McFly from the Back to the Future Universe ends up in the Family Ties Universe. I guess I should maybe write a sequel soon. Anyway,I just did a long post about it at my journal. I do have a problem with accepting Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel as being part of the Family Ties/Spin City Universe - especially if it's also the X-Files Universe, the Bewitched/Tabitha Universe, the Passions Universe, the Superman/Batman Universe, and the Touched By An Angel/The Promised Land Universe. To include Buffy/Angel in that universe would contradict many things - as that universe seems to suggest that the world inherently evil. Also, why would you need a Slayer, if you have Superman and Batman? Furthermore, the witches in that universe is definitely not those of the Bewitched variety. Then, for various reasons, Touched By An Angel contradicts everything that's suggested in Buffy/Angel. Also, not to mention that Spike enjoyed watching Passions ( ... )
