The music project I'm doing with Jack and Hall had its performance debut Sunday night. We performed at a loft space in Oakland. It was very chill -- the people who live at the space have a monthly party/performance thing and anybody who shows up can perform. Our set went over well -- people even sang along. I really like wandering around the city at night. After the movie I was seeing let out (I went to see "Shanghai Express," starring Marlene Dietrich and Anna May Wong -- it is amazing), I wandered around doing some flyering, with a stop in at Kinko's to make more copies. Yesterday I went on a day trip to Santa Cruz with my friend Jack. He picked me up in the morning in his car and we drove down the scenic route of Skyline Boulevard. I hadn't been to Santa Cruz in a while. Despite the big storm a day or show ago (there were reports of 30 foot waves) the weather was great. This morning I went grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. I ended up having a conversation with the women at the food demonstration booth in which I suggested using flax seed as an egg substitute in baking. One of the women was allergic to eggs.
