Keep On Rockin' In Galbadia!!
So I've now played through the end of Disk 1 on FF8. I actually did have a pretty clear recollection of how the disk ended, possibly because it was the most cinematic sequences I'd seen in a video game at the time and it kind of blew my teenage mind. And it helped that I didn't know yet how little payoff there would be for any of it.
( I'm not having anyone talk about me in the past tense! ) -

Somewhere during my ficcing life, I decided that elevators in the FF8 world were called "lifts." I think it was part of some attempt to either exoticize the game or make it relatable to international readers somehow - I also exclusively use the metric system - but I just went back through the script and discovered they actually use "elevator" in ( Read more... ) -

So now that I've committed myself to write a big massive FFXIII fic, I decided the next logical step was to go back and replay FFVIII. Since I also committed myself to finish two big massive FFVIII fics, it does make some sort of sense. I don't particularly like writing fight scenes. This is partly because I have no particular skill at writing choreography, and partly because it takes valuable time away from the snarky banter that I think is the true Platonic ideal of fiction. I have finally beaten FFXIII.
Yes, I know it came out like two years ago - and I had the damn thing preordered, so I wasn't slacking around. Then I spent like two months messing around on the Archylte Steppe trying to kill the stupid Oretoises, and then I moved to Seattle and didn't bring by PS3, and then my PS3 broke. Fun times.
