The 2009 NC State Fair is being held Thursday October 25 through Sunday October 25.

Anyone interested in going with us? I'd need to go the first weekend or during the week. All the tickets are pretty cheap, but advance tickets are even cheaper. You can even get advance tickets for rides and such.

Last night's magnificent (and long!) thunderstorm made me wish I had an ambient environmental sounds recording setup like badger. At least a full hour of intense thunder, and 2 or 3 hours of lightning at least. It was the stupendous amounts of lightning that woke me up well before I could hear the thunder. UNC has been collecting servicable items from graduating students and those leaving for the summer that they would otherwise throw away and having a big YARD SALE Sunday May 16 7:30am to 3pm at the Carolina North complex (where the old Animal Shelter and other municipal buildings were on MLK/Airport/NC86).

For anyone interested in what I do all day: Tomorrow night's Frontline on PBS is about modern water pollution, where it comes from, what it does, and what we could do about it.
