I have implemented my new trust metric, and applied it (fairly crudely) to LiveJournal friends lists as an experiment. The result is a tool that tells you who is "closest" to your friends list who isn't actually on it, like "popfriends" but more sophisticated.

Funny that my old (and deleted!) LJ came in first.
I updated my friendslist though, so in a day or 3 I'll have to check back again.

With the .pl file extension, it's gotta be Perl.

not neccesarily (though that's the most probable for a number of reasons). You can attach any extension to any application type.

It's currently broken (500 Internal Server Error), thought it worked for me less than an hour ago.

You mentioned in an above comment that it holds caches for 3 days before someone can refresh their results. I jus ttried to use it for the first time and reutrned the message, "Sorry! The load on this computer is too great to calculate the results for thebigfatman. Please try again later. "

Does this mean that I have to wait three days? Is that a cached result? Or should I just lurk until such time as when it's less busy?
