Just wondering, how many of you were affected by Ike? Even here in western NY we were; our power went out for about 4.5 hours monday morning, and then again monday night for a couple hours. branches and trees are down all over the place, too.  I know we got rain but it doesn't seem to have been that much.

How are you guys?

Has any one tried using a balloon(s) to send a small package into the air perhaps carrying a digital temperature or any other type of weather instrument?

if so, how high did you go and did you just release the balloon or did you keep it tethered?

It was an exciting and rough weather night yesterday evening in my neck of the woods. I've never seen so much constant lightning. The storms just kept coming... and coming. Just by chance, is anyone catching the Live News report coming out of Central OK on the Fox News Cahnnel right now?

They are showing live shots of funnels dropping out of a wall cloud and some of those funnels touching down.

Yesterday afternoon, after a beautiful morning, the sky clouded up and then got REALLY dark. I live near the Allegheny Forest now, and we have had an extremely dry April.
