Lasagna with Pesto Ricotta, Sundried Tomato Bechamel and spicy Italian Sausage --
( I was inspired to make this a few months ago recalling a favorite pizza from San Francisco made of Pesto, Feta, Sun Dried tomatoes and spicy sausage. I wanted to create a lasagna with the same flavor combinations but more suited to the dish. ) -
1st century Roman recipe... an early form of the basic pasta sauce?!?
wow - this was a quick reference in a cookbook i recently got.. but in looking at the basic recipe - it seems like it could be an ancient cousin to the basic pasta sauce.... centuries before the tomato... or the noodle entered into the equation... kinda fing cool.. (i think..)
