This has been a week of doctor's visits. Saw a surgeon on Tuesday about evaluating my gallbladder. In spite of the battery of testing I got at SF General, none of my doctors outside the hospital have ever gotten copies of the imaging. On using melon in savoury dishes
First up, I'm feeling quite a lot better these days. I have emergency painkillers for the when and not if, a referral to a surgical practice and frankly haven't been in pain since last weekend. Conversation between our cat and his Arch Enemy, the Little Black Cat Next Door
Ever since he was a kitten and claimed our backyard, Dorian has been vexed by his Arch Enemy, the Little Black Cat Next Door. It's a largely one-sided relationship. My first real run-in with US healthcare is as strange as it could be
Two Tuesdays ago, I got another bout of what I till then thought was late night gastritis. I'd been getting these attacks several times over many months. When I went to the doctor back in June, she put me on two weeks of Pepcid and it looked like that was done.

Our corner stores have a habit of stocking some truly weird things, everything from occasional instant tonkatsu ramen bowls to bags of whole hazelnuts. As the weather grows warm-ish, our cat has evolved from being a beloved family pet to the aloof and slightly annoying roommate he is for a third of every year. Sometimes, he comes in to tell you about his day while you're at work and it is always a horrible day. He yells at you when he's hungry. Finches is really happening
Last week, I handed back my final tweaks to Finches to my editor at Vernacular Books. Yesterday, I handed in the introduction. My manuscript is being laid out and it's all kind of just sunk in that this is really happening. I'm also mildly panicked about my introduction.
