The only museum to which I possess a membership is the Museum of Television and Radio and this experience perfectly illustrates why. We went to a surprise birthday party in Rhode Island last night for a good friend with two kids...and there wasn't a single child in sight. The parents in attendance had ALL gotten babysitters and no one even brought up their kids unless you had been talking to them for a really long time and the subject came up naturally. I've seen some person-on-the-street reaction to the story about the female astronaut charged with attempted murder and I just can't get over the folks who are saying "It's so sad--she has kids!" What, it's not sad that she doubtless just flushed her career, her credibility and possibly the rest of her life?

This is why I love Betty Crocker. Prepare a box of potato flakes, spoon into a cocktail glass, feel all proud of yourself that you "cooked." I can't wait to see what they come up with next, for the folks for whom even opening a box is too much work.

I must be on Candid Camera. We put out our recycling bin last night like we do every week. I heard the truck pull up at 5:00 this morning, just like always. I went out to bring in the bin...and the bundled papers were still in it. This day is going so horribly it's almost comical. Almost, but not quite. Everything I try, from web design to hair coloring, is going horribly awry. I think I'd better quit before something really bad happens.
