It's been a while since I sat down and did a good recap of life.  I've been so consumed by first the chapbook challenge and then the online poetry class I'm taking that I haven't really had time to even think about posting.  It's been crazy busy but in a good way.  Here's the recap, organized by areas of my life:

OK, so I don't have any finished pieces to share.  I've been writing diligently, but I haven't finished anything.  And, of course, you have to write a lot of drivel to get something good.  Today it would be easier if I didn't have to listen to Kung Fun Panda.

I've actually been enjoying reading some poetry lately as well as organizing, fretting over, obsessing over, etc, my own work.  I am a self-admitted squee-ing fangirl of Billy Collins, former Poet Laureate of the US.  I got a raise!  I wasn't expecting it after last year's "catch up" raise (I hadn't gotten one in 3 years).  The boss and I had a little "state of the Vonnie" discussion and he gave me a raise.  That will be a nice little addition to the paycheck.

I bought a copy of The Jazz Singer with Neil Diamond today.  I have "America" running through my head now.  I forgot that I actually like Neil Diamond.  Don't judge... 

Bleh.  In 15 years, work has never been this stressful.  We've had stressful times, but nothing like this.  I had one co-worker literally go over the edge (multiple hospitalizations and a move to a different state), my "job share" and I (I still refer to her like that because though she is full time and I am nearly so, we still cooperate on a lot ( Read more... )

When my sister goes over to the coast for my godfather's memorial service next weekend, she is going to finally spread my parents' ashes into Morro Bay like they wanted (my Dad has been dead for almost 5 years now).  She's really upset about it and has generally had a hard time dealing with the whole ashes thing (hence, I think, the 5 year wait ( Read more... )
