I won't be shutting down the community, but after almost two years without a post by anyone other than me, I think its safe to say we've exhausted the weirdness of RI - which might be a good thing in some ways. Well, seven months with no new posts after a steady decline in posting tells me we're pretty much done here at LJ. Just wanted to bring your attention to a book being released on August 4th. The Red Tree takes place in Moosup Valley (whose town sign boasts that H.P. Lovecraft "haunted" it in his childhood, which was a neat thing to discover one day) and is quite a creepy book.

I wish that Providence area RIPTA bus drivers would all learn to pronounce the name of one of Providence's major streets when they make on-board announcements. It's Westminster Street, not "Westminister" Street. There is no i after the n. Yet almost nobody who drives a bus on it every day pronounces it correctly ( Read more... )

Rhode Island is the sole state in New England to not have marriage equality as the law of the land. Marriage Equality Rhode Island will be hosting a rally today at the statehouse demanding the legislature act to pass marriage before the legislative session ends.
