I'm a member of the Canberra Subs & Slaves group of Fetlife. Recently a
post went up in the group explaining that because someone had tried "misrepresenting themselves to join our group and troll for subs", they had "taken the regrettable step of removing switches from our group."
This bothered me.

Subs and slaves who are not comfy or OK around Switches can fuck off into a ditch and die slowly. The 'switch' label is inclusive of sub. Going one way does not mean you are incapable of going the other way, and not without all the headspacery that entails.
I do think you struck the right tone, Whispter, and a lot more patiently and logically than I would have.
The whole fiasco is akin to gay groups shutting out bi people. Some bi men recently sued a gay sports event for saying they weren't gay enough to participate.
When sexuality and lifestyle groups get more and more exclusive, the less interesting and important they become.

I can't believe I didn't think about it that way. In excluding switches, they are necessarily excluding subs. It's as though they are declaring that some subs are more equal than others.
The Convicts manage to accept me, and I manage to get by with being hit on. Now that's a situation where I might be justified in feeling incomfortable, but, like a reasonable person surrounded by reasonable people, I get over it.

Been reading the sub group for a bit, not surprised Canberra looks to be a bit of a mess some days. But then so can Sydney.
