Long time, no update
I guess I don't update this as much as I used to. Well. Finishing off my studies, pretty much just writing up now. Ugh, writing up sucks. Still, has to be done, and not that much longer to go. In 5 months or so, I'll be Dr. Bunny, if it all goes to plan. And then I'll have to try and find a job... -
Science
I got an awesome result the other day at Uni. Another protein structure, and this one looks really interesting. This has basically doubled the amount of results I've got for my PhD, and this is by far the most interesting one so far.
So I'm stoked! -
Back in NZ
I'm back in NZ now. Exhausted. That was a very long day, starting at 7 am on Wednesday and finishing at 7 pm on Thursday. -
Update
Not really much to say. Everything is still going… Fairly well, overall. One year to go on the PhD. That is a scarily short amount of time. -
Transport
The Melbourne public transport seems to be what Auckland is trying to do. The trains are electric, and quiet. And they've just rolled out this NFC-based card system where you scan on and off busses/train/trams, like what Auckland is trying to do with the Snapper thing.

Trip to town
Went in to Melbourne central today. It was good! Got one of their myki passes, unlimited travel on train, tram and bus for a week. Cost AUD$60 so kinda expensive, but eh.
Wandered around Melbourne a bit. So many interesting shops! I'm lucky that Mind Games isn't in Auckland or I would spend way too much money. Got some food and coffee and then it's ( Read more... ) -

The first lot of synchrotron time is over. One more to go, next weekend.
Tiring. But hopefully got some useful data.

Melbourne
Off to Melbourne for a trip to the Australian Synchrotron on Friday. I'll be there for 10 days, coming back on the Monday.
