Granlibakken photos
I'm back in NZ now. Caught a bug of some kind, so the flight back was not fun at all.
The place I stayed at was called Granlibakken (Finnish for "hill in the shelter of fir trees").

Conference day 1
I didn't manage to buy a plug adaptor, but the lodge staff were kind enough to lend me one, so I'm not so worried about rationing my phone's battery. Also, wireless Internet!
The flight over was ok. Ok, it kinda sucked, as 12 hour flights do. The seats were comfortable though, with a good selection of movies. I dozed a bit but didn't really sleep. ( Read more... ) -
Homebrewing update
It's going pretty well so far. The apple juice is actually tasting kinda like cider. Still quite sweet, seeing as it's only been 3 days, and it'll probably only be about 2-3% alcohol by now. I'm going to leave it a few more days to get it a bit drier, and then stick it in the fridge.
I'm also trying some ginger beer. -
Home brewing
One of my workmates does home brewing. He's been talking about it a bit. I decided to have a bit of a go. Now I'm not really much of a beer drinker, and to be honest it looks pretty complicated, so I thought I'd have a go with some of these.They're lids to fit standard PET bottles, with a rubber valve in them. I'm heading off to a conference in Tahoe, CA in March. Should be fun! -
Back to work
Stopped throwing up, so back to work for reals this time. -
Melbourne
We've arrived in Melbourne. Yay! We've got a nice long holiday, we'll be coming back on the 10th.

MMP Referendum
