i think Jack called Ennis' girls and maybe he's arranging something?a visit?
and i don't think the girls "know" or even suspect.at least not yet.

**Jack brought his giggles under some control. "Well, at least you didn't come. Now that is embarrassin!" A pause; an excruciating silence. He could almost feel the heat radiating off Ennis's face. "You didn't! Shit no, you did!"** rofl.that's just hilarious.poor Ennis.

I like this story so much, it always feels to me that it really could have been that way if the short story or the movie would originally have had a happy ending. It´s wonderful to see how familiar and close Jack and Ennis are now with each other, they can even share embarrassing experiences and openly admire other men´s asses. And it´s so great that Ennis decided to let Jack him accompany to see his girls and I think this visit went really well, the girls seemed to like Jack a lot and Junior probably even guessed the true nature of the relationship between her dad and Jack, but has been happy for them, maybe because she is happily in love herself.

Nw that all of the characters are assembled in the living room, I dare say that Alma Jr. is the person whom Jack called. The evidence is plain: the comment she made that Jack makes her dad happy.

One sad note: in real life, I don't for a minute believe that in real life, Ennis would have that kind of relationship with his girls. I think the fact that he had an affair during the marriage (that indirectly caused the divorce)along with their mom's unhappiness, along with the drinking, would have made it difficult.

Do you think the girls would even know about any affair? I suspect they just figured their parents drifted apart and then Mum left Dad, so he ends up looking like the wronged party, especially when she marries someone new. I strongly doubt they realised what was going on during those fishing trips. Even overhearing some of the row wouldn't have given them an idea. I don't think we are supposed to think they heard the details. JMHO.
