I finished the second draft of my novel Slideways this afternoon! To celebrate, Tom and I are having a drink at the Old Bag of Nails in Upper Arlington around 9 o'clock. Anyone who cares to join us is welcome!
I am excited to be going to THATCamp, but annoyed at the page layout. I'm supposed to post my session ideas to the blog, but I can't find a damned link to get to it. Nobody else seems to have a problem posting their sessions; I feel like an idiot.
More wisdom tooth fun--it turns out I have alveolar osteitis, or dry socket. This is a complication of wisdom tooth removal where the protective blood clot either forms improperly or is disturbed. The result: bone tissue in the open socket is directly exposed to air and germs. As you can guess, this is very painful. I returned from the doctor's

I got all of my wisdom teeth out this morning. I was a tad nervous because I've never been under sedation before, and the Doctor gave me what he called "The Michael Jackson Special". The surgery itself was strange; I got some laughing gas, which took the edge off while they put in an IV. Then a nurse placed something in my mouth to keep it open

While cleaning yesterday, I found an old Scientific American magazine from 2001. The cover story? Drowning New Orleans: A major hurricane could swamp the city under 20 feet of water, killing thousands.
