Okay, newest update - they counter offered. They won't go a penny below 215. No cash backs unless we want to offer MORE than that (i.e. we could offer 218 with two thousand back for renos).

Dad is really pushing me to accept some money from him for the renos. Apparently they bought some stock while things were cheap.

So we made an offer on this other place. Requesting 7,000 cash back for "decorator's allowance" and that all appliances be in good working order, and be replaced if they are not. And the hole in the wall to be filled and sanded!

So, apparently after 60 days of silence, someone else also decided to make an offer on our house today. We countered by upping our offer to the maximum we can afford, just to be sure, but they went with the other offer.

So... now maybe we look at a highly conditional purchase of the ratty place? I don't know.

So, after self medicating with some carbs and taking into consideration Benn's feelings, I have agreed to make an offer on Option 1. Benn likes the deck better than the yard, because he feels that it looks nicer and that he could actually have people over for a barbecue, instead of having a shaggy little yard that smells like dog pee. So, Benn finally managed to get a hold of the realtor, and apparently that place sold last week. Thanks for telling us, Dick. We had hoped to close a sale by the end of the month, so we could give a month's warning to our landlord, but that's probably not going to happen, now. Guess we won't be moving til September.
