There's apparently been some confusion about the nature of the magatama. Therefore, I figured it might be helpful to detail the how and why of it here for those who are unfamiliar with Phoenix Wright canon. Note there might be a few spoilers here and there.

The Wonderbar, though it does serve alcohol, does not give off the appearance of a sleazy place. Rather, it seems to revel in its own eccentricity, showing off pictures of several unusual acts it's booked in the past as well as a generous assortment of musicians. Phoenix is not, by general inclination, one to go looking for clients. They tend to find him, or he gets dragged to them by Maya, but he rarely looks for them himself.
