Minutiae of the day
I had to stop and gas up my car on the way to work this morning. As I drove to the gas station, I passed a dead tortoiseshell cat that had been hit by a car. That always hurts to see. Rethinking a Japan comic
BoingBoing recently posted a promo video/another review for the comic "Tonoharu," a graphic novel about a JET teacher's experience in Japan. At first glance, the comic is beautifully drawn in a woodcut style, but when you look at the story, it's... depressing. Goodbye, "Evil" One
At six this morning, I was awakened by the sound of a dog screaming outside my bedroom window-the kind of scream a German Shepherd makes when it's hyperexcited or in pain. Cat Explosion
We held a surprise birthday party for my dad yesterday, and I had a good time overindulging, and a not-so-good time trying to sleep last night. Yesterday I went to the grocery store to pick up milk and a few other items. I usually go to the store on the corner, two blocks from my house. According to Forbes, the Tampa Bay area (and specifically my commute between Tampa and St. Petersburg) rates #1 for worst commute in the United States. That beats places like Los Angeles, Atlanta and Orlando.
