I was driving to work this morning and came within a tire's width of driving over a TURTLE in the middle of the road. It was a big turtle, too--at least as long as my tire is wide! It was a moderately busy road; I hope he made it across OK ( Read more... ) -
Cap-and-trade bill...
Summary and full text of the Waxman-Markey bill, the American Clean Energy and Security Act, which got out of committee last night. I'm swamped at work today so a full reading will have to come later, but from all that I'm hearing, this bill has a much better chance of passing than the one that was around last year.
Expensive energy, here we come.

Enviroblog on why Ethanol is evil. I don't always agree with their positions, but I'm with them all the way on this one. There's even some things I didn't know in this, like ethanol creating more smog.

Having a great time dying yarn!
A few weeks ago Kyle was out of the house and I decided to try dying yarn with easter egg dye. It isn't hard--you just mix the dye as normal, and let the yarn sit in it until all the color is absorbed. I bought some white wool and did four colors:

On Politics and Polar Bears
In case you missed the whole kerfluffle last year, polar bears are listed as threatened, under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), *because* of the decline in arctic sea ice due to global warming. it is FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEZING in my office. Some people (high-ups and long-time employees) sit next to the window and have warm sun, so they need AC. Other people (me) sit under the fans that circulate said AC. I'm gong to bring my coat back in and just leave it here!

Writer's Block: Swine Times
Not right now--there are no reported cases anywhere near us. If it does spread to our area I will be more careful, of course.
But, if we *did* have quarantine, I was already planning to make and freeze a bunch of food this weekend, so that will work out :P
