Remember that hideous roving I dyed a couple of posts ago? I spun it up and LOVE it! I had no idea that such beauty could come from such dispicable beginnings. It is the colors that I love--maroon, navy, gold and when they are all combined a sort of autumn brown. Now I can't wait to handpaint again! :-) here it is, navajo-plied:

I just got 3 new books to read about Spinning that look GREAT--the Spinners Companion, Spinning Designer Yarns and the Twisted Sisters Sock Workbook. Just by flipping through I have learned new things that I didn't even know I needed to know, you know? Add these to the other books I have gotten recently and I will be a fiber genious! It was horrible!!!!! I tried handpainting for the first time and it was a disaster--i failed!! Dye everywhere, except on the wool....I have no idea why, but the dye just would not soak the roving. Luckily it all went straight through so I could just smear it around in it and get some color. see:

I finished a hat on the Knifty Knitter! Some might say using the Knifty Knitter is cheating, but I think it made a comfy hat! Knitting it with needles would take the same amount of time and is not much harder, but the form is nice and I didn't have to adhere to a pattern--I could just sit down, space out and CREATE! I've finished what seems to be my weekly yarn batch. This is 100% wool with specks in the singles and accented with flecks added during plying. At first I thought it was a little TOO MUCH like confetti, but now I am enjoying it:
