That night the cast gathered in a nearby pub. Amber and Jenna were on the small stage performing a karaoke song. Lea always found it funny when professional singers sang karaoke in public. She felt it was ironic.

Chris, Mark, and the rest of the guys sat at the bar. Those old enough to drink had a beer in their hands. Lea wasn’t feeling up to it, though. She looked over to her right. Dianna was sitting at a table with Heather. She was wearing the yellow dress she had bought earlier. Her blonde hair was being held back from her face with a very cute and matching headband. Dianna’s lips were glossed pink and in a smile that hugged her teeth. Lea couldn’t help but smile back. At that moment, Dianna felt someone staring at her. She turned to look at Lea, but Lea had changed the direction of her gaze. Dianna then wondered if Lea was staring at her. In fact, she almost wanted to convince herself that Lea was, even if it was already true.

Dianna clutched her drink in one hand and stared at the ice while she mixed it with the other. She needed to find a way to get Lea’s attention without being obvious. It’s bad enough that Dianna pushed her away and sat with Heather and Naya and not with her. She hoped that the rest of the cast members didn’t find it strange either. Dianna and Lea were, and still are, attached at the hip, but recently since Dianna had spent the night at Lea’s apartment, she felt something changed. This thought made Dianna panic a bit so she took a long swig of her drink, and another, and another.

Pretty soon Dianna was alone on the stage rocking out to Heart’s Barracuda. Some of the girls had gone back to their hotel rooms. Only Heather stayed behind with Mark and Cory. Lea was laughing and clapping at Dianna on stage. She finished and bowed and Lea ran up to her.

“What a fabulous performance, Di.” Lea’s smile beamed. “May I have your autograph?”

Dianna looked at Lea with a lazy grin, much like the one from the other night before they kissed. “It depends, little lady.” She slurred.

“On what?”

“On where you want me to sign it.” Dianna winked an exaggerated wink. Lea rolled her eyes noticeably. Dianna’s face scrunched up.

“Why do you roll your eyes on me?”

“You mean: at me.” Lea corrected her quickly without thinking.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I guess I was thinking about something else..” Dianna let out an obnoxious giggle. Lea had a pretty good idea about what she was talking about but she didn’t need thoughts like that in her head, especially when they dripped with intoxication.

“Alright, alright, Miss Subtle. Let’s get you to the hotel room.”

“Oh, taking advantage, I see.” Dianna said. She stepped very close to Lea. Lea’s heart started to beat rapidly and her eyes widened. Her lips neared Lea’s ear and whispered, “That’s my girl.”

Lea gripped Dianna’s arm and dragged her out of the bar not even being careful enough so that Dianna doesn’t trip. Her chest was heaving up and down and she needed to calm herself. Dianna stood off to a corner next to a lamp post while Lea called a cab. The yellow car arrived and Lea opened the door for Dianna; she stumbled in. Lea told the cab driver where to go and the rest of the ride went silent. Lights passed quickly, reflecting on Lea’s face. Dianna turned to look at Lea, who looked sad. Guilt over took Dianna and she looked down to find Lea’s hand right by her thigh. Dianna reached over and laid her hand on Lea’s. Lea closed her eyes. Her thumb ran in circles on Dianna’s fingers. Lea sighed deeply.

Finally reaching their room, Lea looked for the room key in her bag, pulled it out and opened the door. Dianna followed Lea slowly. The lights were too bright to look at for Dianna. She walked straight to the bed and sat. Lea went into the kitchen and retrieved a glass and filled it with water. Dianna looked up and met a glass of water.

“Drink.”

Dianna didn’t hesitate. She chugged the water down without question. Once finished, Lea went back into the kitchen to refill the glass. Dianna, again, drank the water as fast as she could. This happened a few more times until Dianna couldn’t drink any more water. She remained sitting on the edge of the bed, looking down at the floor. Lea extended her hand and helped Dianna to her feet. She turned her back to Lea. Lea took a deep breath and unzipped the dress. This isn’t going to happen, this isn’t going to happen, Lea chanted in her mind. She took a pair of shorts and a tank top from her bag and handed it to Dianna, then took some clothes and excused herself to the bathroom. Dianna’s eyes followed the short brunette to the bathroom and watched her close the door quickly. She looked down at the clothes Lea had given her. Dianna was starting to forget what had happened earlier. She guessed the water Lea gave her was working miracles because she was sobering up faster than she thought she would.

Lea stepped out of the bathroom to find Dianna in bed with the light off. She walked slowly toward Dianna’s side of the bed so as to not make any noise. She was asleep. She kneeled down in front of Dianna and stroked her hair lightly. Lea spoke barely over a whisper, “I wish you’d remember the kiss.”

She waited a minute just to see if she could get a reaction from Dianna, but she was in deep sleep. She got up and walked to her side of the bed. She took both her pillows and pulled an extra blanket and laid them in the floor. She didn’t feel well enough to sleep on the same bed as Dianna at the time. Once she got comfortable, she rested her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Dianna was not in fact asleep. She had heard Lea come out of the bathroom and had hoped for her to check if she was asleep. Having done what she expected, she was set to sleep, but Lea made a pit stop to tell her something. She didn’t understand what kiss she was talking about and thought that if she asked, Lea would freak out again. The last thing Dianna wanted was to have Lea not talk to her again. Dianna let her mind continue her train of thought until she found herself asleep.
