I read a lot of fanfic. Especially since I discovered supernaturalfic and its archived fics by category. I'm on hold a lot during the day, so what else am I going to do? However, there's one that sticks out in awesomeness. It wasn't my first SPN fic, but it was the first one where I fangirled (and then friended) the author.

Summary: The djinn is dead, but Dean did not leave behind the djinn's world entirely. Dean/Carmen.
Amazing. I don't know if I can say enough about it. I think what got me is it deals with my favorite episode, but it's more than just that, because there were several (bordering on many) follow-ups to that episode, and none did the trick the way this one did.
Also, because there's one part that's just beyond adorable, I made fanart in the form of icons. Minor spoilers for the story, I suppose? Very minor.
(Honorable mention goes to An End Has a Start by emiliglia. It's an interesting concept and also helps ease the pain of that other world. Summary: After Dean wakes up in the hospital with amnesia after an apparent attempted suicide, the answers he seeks just brings more questions before turning his world completely upside down. Basically, it deals with the idea that the world that our Dean got dropped into by the djinn really existed as an alternate reality--and when our Dean stabbed himself to go back to the "real" world, the Dean of that reality came back.)
