Harry sighed as he stared blankly at the file before him. It was a simple case of disturbing the peace, where a young wizard had been annoying his elderly neighbours a bit too much by playing loud music. He had send a trainee to sort it out, but he did have to check the paperwork of the case.

He looked at his inbox in despair were still a huge pile of paperwork was stacked on top of each other. It was already past seven, and most of the staff of the Auror department had already left. Harry groaned, as he ran his fingers through his hair. Why wasn’t there a spell that would simply make the paperwork do itself.

“Hey Harry, I thought you could use a bit of this,” Ron said as he came into Harry’s office carrying two cups. He placed a blue cup in front of Harry. He watched as animated snowmen did a little dance. He could use the hot chocolate right now, especially since the paperwork was sucking all the life out of him like a Dementor. He stretched feeling his shoulders pop back into place, and the stiffness in his neck disappear slightly.

“Thanks,” Harry said as he grabbed the cup and took a sip. “Working the graveyard shift, are you?”

“Yeah, thought I could use a slow day to catch up on my paperwork before Malfoy starts to kick up a fuss.” Ron slouched in his seat, and also took a drink from his cup. “But I have to say mate, you look like shit. When was the last time you went home on a decent time?”

Harry rubbed his eyes behind his glasses. Suddenly feeling tired. “Yesterday, I think.”

Ron looked at him, “You went home at eight yesterday, Harry. That is not a decent time. Especially not since you usually start at six. Why don’t you take tomorrow off?”

“Can’t,” Harry mumbled, “I have a meeting with Kingsley at nine, and a meeting with the Head of Creatures after that. In the afternoon I have to inspect the progress made with the new recruits. And of course I have more paperwork to finish.”

“If you can’t take the day off, then at least go home now and get some rest.”

“Put the paperwork...”

“Screw the paperwork,” Ron burst out, “It can be done tomorrow. The department isn’t going to fall down just because you haven’t finished the paperwork for the day.”

“But Malfoy will yell at me if I don’t finish my paperwork in time so I can send it to the Archive,” Harry protested. It was a weak argument he knew.

“So be yelled at, it’ll give you an excuse to see him again,” Ron huffed.
