The Hobbit Trilogy - a reflection
I've now seen all three films that make up the Hobbit trilogy. After some reflection, I'd have to say that the last one was my least favourite. That may be because battles, on the whole, bore me, they certainly did in the Lord of the Rings. Bring and take
Is anyone else beginning to wonder if the words 'take' and taken' have got lost somewhere in the ether? I am reading the word 'bring' and brought' used when I expect to read 'take' and 'taken'. I recall my son saying "I'll bring that to Uni" and I said quite defintely (being the pedantic mum I am), "No, love, you'll take it to Uni but you could ask ( Read more... ) -

Hubby loves his wine, I'm a teetotaler, I've tried many times over the years but really can't see what anyone finds to enjoy in alcohol (which makes me driver of choice when we go out anywhere :-)). Hobbiton
My OH took me to Hobbiton for my birthday. :-) I enjoyed it greatly and to his surprise so did hubby. Despite grey clouds and rain on arrival, the sun came out and the 2 hours were spent in rather pleasant weather. And to prove it, here are a few photos.

Elections
Are now over thankfully! Politics, dirty and otherwise, has filled our TV screens here in New Zealand in the lead up to the general election for over a month now. After all the kerfuffle we've ended up with the incumbents re-elected for a third term on a slightly bigger majority ( Read more... ) -

We went along to Light Nelson with friends and were overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who attended! I haven't seen crowds like that since I was last in the UK. :-) It was all due to rain, it poured Friday so the event was cancelled, it rained Saturday so few turned up and Sunday everyone turned out - it's a free event and in its second year ( Read more... ) -
Can you separate the artist from their work?
The problem with winter when the sun doesn't show itself (rare but it's been dull and rainy for quite a few days) is that my study gets very cold and my heater struggles to make an impact. LJ Changes
How can I change my friends feed reading style so that entries takes up the whole page again rather than being squashed into a a column the width of a third of my screen? I can't display the friends feed in my journal style (you have to upgrade to do that) only when I comment. Damn me but LJ is bloody annoying. -
Toxic news
I'm doing an on line Ethics course as part of my professional maintenance of competency and training. The course is quite interesting and varied consisting less of tuition and more throwing a variety of ethical questions at us and making proposals we need to respond to.
