30 Days of Nu-Who: Day 7
Day 7 - Favorite Episode
Back when I was doing the 30 Days of TV meme, I posted this, which states that my favorite episode is “Blink.” I still like “Blink,” but I can’t take it as seriously because of the season 5 episodes featuring the Weeping Angels. I just don’t find them as terrifying as I did before, which spoils the episode for me just a little bit.
But “Midnight” - Oh, I love it so much. It’s perfectly written and shows that you can tell an outstanding story on a very small budget (this was the “cheap” episode).
I’ve already written about “Midnight” here and I don’t want to repeat myself. However, the ending has got me thinking about my personal belief towards stories, especially fanfiction. When I write (which is, admittedly, rare), I always want to end my stories in a way that makes the characters better, whether it be happier, wiser, braver, etc. That doesn’t actually happen in “Midnight.” In fact, everyone ends up either dead or traumatized. Maybe the humans on board the bus are slightly wiser, but I doubt it, especially considering Val’s last words, “I said it was her.” She’s in such denial, she hadn’t learned anything.
This episode makes me laugh, it makes me sad, and it makes me scared and that’s why it’s my favorite.
