Just replaced photos of two co-workers' kids with photos of  Scott Walker.  Wondering how long it will take them to notice.  I very badly needed the laugh (it was another co-worker's idea). 

So, a blogger from Tikkun contacted me via FB to ask me if he could use some of my photos in the blog.  Silly, but I'm totally thrilled.  I've been posting to much over there to try to get the word out, and I feel kind of validated!  

My personal triumph of the day: I emailed my conservative, republican  sister, and politely pointed out that Walker's bill is anti-democratic, and has sooooo many problems...and I pointed out that her State Senator, a Republican, was on the list of Republicans who *might* be on the fence, and asked her to contact him...and she DID!  She agrees that ( Read more... )

Holy crap, that was a really nice weekend away with the ladies.  I like that I have a friend with a rich aunt who let's us use her northwoods cabin, and I love that I know a group of really wonderful women.  Good food, good (and not-so-good-but-cheap) wine, amazing conversation.  Perfect weekend, and to top it all off, starting a new job tomorrow ( Read more... )

Just had the most hilarious conversation with The Boy.  I love it when he calls me after 13 hours at work and he's loopy as hell.  I may be getting a new washer/dryer from a co-worker of his, yay for no more laundromat!  He's also agreed to cat-sit for me, so I can go camping this weekend with no guilt over the elderly kitteh.  

Just got home from a canning party.  I thought I'd give canning a try this summer, and now I'm a little bit addicted.  Food preservation has become my friend.  So far I've made two batches of dilly beans, a batch of tomatillo salsa, and a batch of pickles.  Tonight Beth and Andrea taught me how to can tomatoes, and as soon as I have enough ripe ( Read more... )

I'm a quasi-step-grandma! Mark's daughter had a baby boy yesterday, Trevor James. 7lbs, 6oz, here by c-section, everyone is tired but well. I can't wait to meet the little guy, but it's going to have to wait until I get over this stupid cold. He sounds super cute, and I am officially an old lady.
