( On referring to my notes I see that it was upon the fourteenth of April that I received a telegram from Lyons which informed me that Holmes was lying ill in the Hotel Dulong. )

Ack, I am a bad person and very sorry for the lateness (please don't tell on me? I'll make it short so as not to keep you too long). This week, we have another chapter from Holmes' freshman notebook, some hastily cobbled together history, and a butler.

( But with me there is a limit, and when I find a man who keeps his cigars in the coal-scuttle, his tobacco in the toe end of a Persian slipper, and his unanswered correspondence transfixed by a jack-knife into the very centre of his wooden mantelpiece, then I begin to give myself virtuous airs. )
