finally, challenge question #2--gossip girl
While I enjoyed Rats Saw God, I think trying to “justify” or maybe analyze Gossip Girl is more interesting.

okay, let me start off by saying the two titles i've read (twilight and boy meets boy) don't really fall into what i'd consider "sexually explicit young adult literature," to use the Pattee article title. so i don't see how any teens or pre-teens reading either title would consider it even vaguely informational in that regard. not like forever, ( Read more... ) -

the Twilight series review/analysis (short, 3 p.)
neat article in the Atlantic entitled what girls want by caitlin flanagan. it seems pretty spot-on, to this guy at least. sure, the series isn't "great lit" but what sucked me in (besides the subject, no pun intended) was the dialogue, the sense of once again being a teenager and trying to figure out WTF is going on.

we started the class talking about where the wild things are. now as we wind down the semester, i see an article on the rolling stone website on the movie of the book. neat pic of a monster, but i'm still not sure this film needed to be done.
it's been a fun class, and i hope to see some of you in the YA class in the spring ^_^
