Putting my money where my mouth is
I haven't yet seen the movie Food, Inc., but I had a weird moment of clarity in the grocery store a few days ago. I was walking by the packaged hams, hot dogs, and deli meat, and realized how gross it was to have so many animals killed (and probably mistreated) just to make mystery meat. Our house inspection went well. Some issues came up, we negotiated a little off the closing costs to help pay for repair/electric work. Tomorrow is the loan application. I am getting tired of the whole process, and now I'm glad that we have until Aug. 31 to close, I need a rest before I start packing and all that ( Read more... ) -
So close to being a homeowner!
Whew. The last week or two has been crazy. Jeremy and I have found a house that we both liked and put in an offer on it last week. After negotiations over the 4th of July weekend, we settled on a price and closing date, and signed the altered purchase agreement yesterday. I hate being railroaded at work. I asked the folks who have supervisory responsibility in our programs/units to volunteer for a working group/committee to develop a 360-degree evaluation. I think the universe decided to barf up all my big projects today.
I met with my master's advisor and FINALLY and got feedback on my full draft. Turns out he has been back and forth to Virginia trying to help his Dad get into a rehab facility and possibly surgery or something. His sister in law also got cancer at the same time, so his brother who is in Virginia is tied up with that. Then he took on an extra ( Read more... ) -
