Two days longer in hospital than originally anticipated, but i am finally, FINALLY home in my own bed.

The surgery went well.  i have two a pins screw holding the tibia and fibula together and a small plate with another two seven screws holding the broken bits of fibula together.  I'm sporting a big wad of dressing around the wound and a liquid- ( Read more... )

Tomorrow at 11:45 a.m., I need to head to my primary care physician's office for a pre-op physical.  I live right around the corner from the doc's, but am slow as molasses when it comes to getting down those three tiny stairs in front (I'm terrified of falling again right now).  Need to leave my house by 11:30, should take less than an hour but ( Read more... )

Surgery is slated for Friday.  Not sure when yet, waiting for the scheduler to call me.  The break is bad.  The snap I felt on the way down was, indeed, a ligament rupturing, and apparently I need that ligament to hold my tibia and fibula together.  I'll get screws to hold the bones together laterally (those will come out in 3-4 months) and ( Read more... )

I managed to injure myself getting off a motorcycle. A motorcycle which was completely stopped. I lost my balance while swinging my right leg over the luggage rack, and rather than just falling I tried to save things. In doing so, I twisted my left leg, which earned me a neato spiral fracture of my fibula and some possible, as-yet-unknown damage ( Read more... )

A fantastic weekend, yes.
