I'm watching a programme on archaeological digs of Anglo Saxon sites in East Anglia. They were looking at bronze brooches. Some years ago I found a strange bit of green metal in the garden. One of my favourite days of the year. Traditionally the day when servants and tradesmen would receive their Christmas " Box" or thank you gift and when alms would be distributed to the poor.
