I came up with a pattern for pany liners based on my disposable ones. Apparently the pattern is too short (about 16cm) as they are moving around in my underwear. I tried making it a few centimetres longer but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. After trying out some different styles and fabrics for making liners I've decided I most like flannelette (just 2 layers which I sew inside-out, turn right-side-out then overstitch). I was thinking of buying some cloth panty-liners but didn't see a design I really liked (most are a bit longer than I want or narrower). I've come up with a design I'd like to try making myself. Here's my first ever attempt at a cloth pad that I've completed. I made it from some flat cotton that I was going to use for a blouse, and a left over washcloth. It's got a button that was left over from some previous shirt or another.

I handstitched the round, top stitching, button and button hole... but used the machine for zig-zagging the soaker ( Read more... )

I'm thinking of experimenting with using a strip of PUL, about 2.5" by 6 or 6" under some of my pads that don't have PUL in them. Should I zigzag the edges, or is it okay to leave it raw?

So I thought to myself that if I made my pads smaller in the middle (since I'm sure I've made my others with more than enough extra room), it might not bleed to the side. I've had another cupless period due to a wrist tattoo on my cup inserting hand and I'm still learning the best way to work my period with cloth only. I evidently bleed up in my pads. Do I make them longer to balance it out or make them curvy? I currently use the diamond style pad because with my previously loose fitting panties, that worked best ( Read more... )
