After watching the series for the nth time (I'm embarrassed to estimate even to a community of fans), I find it easier to examine the finale more critically and refrain myself from screaming at a certain character, guess who. So, let's compare the endings of the anime and the manga.

Death Note's fandom
It's true that Death Note is one of my favorite series of all time, but when I think of the others that emotionally impacted me, I've noticed that I'm pretty rarely persuaded to be active in the fandom. In the anime when L and Light are at the cafe... Light had made a statement that he knew he was one of the people Raye was investigating.. I don't remember L ever saying he was being investigated... wouldn't that be a huge red flag. "Definitely Kira ( Read more... ) -
Fighting the brainwashing
Here's something I'm curious about.
Do you think that someone can realize that they're under control of the notebook? Would they realize, "No, this isn't like me. Why am I doing this...oh shit." Or would they justify their actions to themselves somehow, or just lose all self-awareness as soon as the notebook takes control?

Just a quick question that's been nagging at me lately...
Would Light have been given a license to own a firearm on joining the NPA? I'm not entirely sure how the system works, and in some fics I've read he does, in others he doesn't. If he does, why wasn't he carrying a gun to the Yellow Box incident, or could this just be explained as a (frankly rather understandable) phobia or precaution on Near's part ( Read more... )
