I got a new can of vegeta today. It's this vegetarian soup base that I can only find at Asian markets, Mexican groceries, and the Holy Land Deli at the bottom of my hill. It really is delicious, and I suspect it's because of the MSG- but I don't care. It's a miracle product! Just ask the brochure insert attached to the can:

So, apart from the near asphyxiation from the boiling brine on the stove, today's adventure in pickling was going pretty well...up to the point where we loaded up the antique pressure cooker with our jars and realized there were no directions in the ancient instructional booklet for pickles. We can things!   carleton97 and I went to an orchard today and we rode on some hay bales and picked apples and raspberries.

Now we are creating raspberry apple butter and drinking beers.

We went to the Farmer's Market and got pickling dill, too, so tomorrow we pickle things!

God, does life get any better than this?  I just love the end of summer. 

Diet Coke is not an effective make-up remover. I know, I was shocked too.

This is kind of hard, because a lot of these recipes don't have a recipe, per se.   I don't know the exact amounts, and it sort of changes every time I make it.   So, these are by no means scientifically formulated.   In fact, all the spices are totally estimated- I'd start with that much, and then adjust to taste.
